After spending most of his life in the construction industry and holding virtually all positions in construction management, Mr. Turney decided to start sharing his experience with others and now holds certificates as a school Director, an Instructor in the field of Construction Estimating, Project Management, Superintendent and is an inactive licensed California General Contractor.
Mr. Turney founded Turnkey Construction Management Institute, Inc., in 1994 originally for the sole purpose of retraining injured construction workers. He himself an injured construction worker, went through a similar course of instruction and secured a position as the Project Manager/Estimator for all the finish work of the under construction Oakland Federal Building, which at that time was the largest construction project in California. Since that time TCMI grew to four California campuses and has also provided vocational rehabilitation to U.S. Disabled and Homeless Military Veterans. Many TCMI graduates have successfully completed their courses of instruction and obtained great careers with virtually no construction background.
And it works! Our Certificates of Completion have been accepted as the equivalent to an Associates Degree in Construction Management since founding, therefore, throughout the country and the world, Turnkey Construction Management Institute, Inc. graduates continually secure employment in their new careers.
TCMI goes virtual!
Yes, we have been successfully providing on campus training in Construction Management since 1994 through our four California campuses and our Estimating, Project Management course has been taught via Distance Education since 1998. Now, after careful research and wanting to provide the most cost effective and useful courses to everyone, Mr. Turney has restructured the school to be a 100% Virtual Campus. This will allow students to enroll at any time into our Online courses, complete their training at their own pace and thus allows us to lower our overhead so dramatically, that the resulting tuition is lowered as much as 91% of the original cost for our Veteran enrollee’s and nearly 85% for our private students.
